Re: “When Evil Assaults Innocence”
“Evil is what comes in the front door when we shove God out the back door. America is getting the government and culture we deserve as a result of turning away faith and family and allowing perversity and deviant behavior to become the norm.” —Texas
Re: “NRA Fratricidal Fire Hits Second Amendment Hard”
“Wayne LaPierre needs to go. When a leader of an organization is under a cloud of suspicion, such as he is, he needs to do the right thing and ‘fall on his sword’ for the good of the organization. Regardless of if he is right or wrong, the very suspicion that he has committed maleficence makes a case for his stepping down. The board of directors needs to swallow its pride and support LaPierre’s departure.” —Colorado
“I am a lifetime member of the NRA, a retired airline captain, and a former federal flight deck officer. When Colonel Oliver North resigned as NRA president, it became obvious that the management of the organization was corrupt. The financial disclosures made it clear that our funds and donations were being used to the benefit of the LaPierre family and other associates. I made my dissatisfaction known in letters to the then-president, but business as usual has continued. Membership has cratered and the NRA serves none of us well. I wish the former board members well in their reorganization effort.” —Florida
“When I read Colonel North’s resignation letter (after a very short tenure), I knew something was wrong with the NRA’s approach and method as managed by LaPierre. Because of that feeling, I have stopped sending money for LaPierre’s use. I will resume if, and only if, LaPierre is removed from any duties with the NRA. I have been associated with the NRA since being a sixth-grade member of Williams Military Academy in Wheaton, Illinois (no longer operating), beginning in 1944. Please clean up the NRA and install leadership like Allen West and North.” —Pennsylvania
“Your analysis of the NRA’s troubles is spot on. Unfortunately, the ruling junta of the organization continues to prove the maxim that ‘power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ The self-dealing and looting of the organization’s assets by LaPierre and his cronies has given an opening to anti-gun Attorney General Letitia James to sue to try to destroy the organization (which the court thankfully won’t let her do). Whether this latest crisis causes the organization to change leadership remains to be seen.” —Arizona
Re: “Biden Gives Us Gas Pains”
“Power interruptions are very costly to manufacturing firms, so there will be an economic hit whenever the Biden mills don’t have enough wind to drive the grid. Recall that in 2008, $4+/gallon gas broke the budgets of families already struggling to pay mortgages taken out during the housing boom. By shutting down many refineries, Hurricane Katrina triggered the crash from which we did not fully recover until Donald Trump’s policies took effect. We are now at the peak of another housing price boom, and there is a massive overextension of other types of debt. It will be instructive to see what is the current rate of mortgage foreclosures. The signs point to a major inflationary recession — the Biden bear market. Yes, he did that.” —Minnesota
Re: “Pelosi’s Housekeeping Plans: Unionization and Higher Pay”
“I am a unionized healthcare worker. Is the federal government going to subsidize a 21% raise for me? It has been hell the last couple years with COVID, unnecessary inflation, employer abuse, working long overtime hours (and then being yelled at for working long overtime hours), and being forcibly injected with Lord knows what. My union leaders think they are kings of the world if they get us 3% a year. When they do, they raise our dues and constantly beg for money to pay off their Democrat friends. I never gave a nickel and never will. If anyone deserves 21% raises, it’s those in healthcare. The congressional staff worked from home and was likely receiving extra COVID bonuses to boot.” —Arizona
